Preschooler Time

Part of our day is spent doing preschool fun with J3. We use Before Five in a Row as our primary program with lots of basic readiness skills mixed in between. J3 will be 4 on June 10th so he has definitely rounded a corner in his ability to stick to an activity and he has some super skills. I know Carisa over at 1+1+1=1 has her Tot School posts and Totally Tots blog, but my guy is a bit older than a tot these days. So, I stick with the preschool label. I've also added a preschool boxes category to my workbox list in the sidebar to the left. I hope those of you with preschoolers will find something valuable here.

Part of our puzzle stash. We have spots for ABC/123 puzzles, matching puzzles, and regular picture puzzles. In another spot I have floor puzzles and larger or older kid puzzles

Beading activity- young kids love to put things through the holes in the egg carton. The Busy Books have tons of ideas on this type of thing- yes yet another plug for The Busy Books by Trish Kuffner. So worth every penny on those!

J3 tries his "hand" at counting in the hand puzzle. This was made a few years ago in the "Preschool Activities in a Bag" swap from the Five in a Row boards. I've signed for another one for the second book. We'll see what activities come in from that.

The original swap box- a whole bunch of us (about 30) made activities and then we swapped them by mailing out the ones we made to the others on the list. In the end, we got bunches of new activities.

Ooh, I like the swap box idea. Looks like you got some school stuff with that. I will look for the busy toddler book. My two year old is a challenge to keep occupied while schooling the older ones.

The egg carton and beads looks fun. Love your workbox categories in the sidebar. I'm going to link up to them in a post I just did on workboxes.
Thanks for all the great ideas!
(BTW, I'm wondering if we were in the same preschool baggie swap. I did one from the boards summer '06. My kids have loved those baggies!)

Thanks for the book recommendations. I'm going to have to check those out. Do you recommend the toddler one for Eliana? Would the other one be too "young" for an almost 5yo? Thanks for your help. :-)

Blessings

I think both books would be great for Eliana and your son. I don't know your almost 5 yr old, but there are a lot of great ideas in there. Our library system has them so maybe yours does as well. You might try to check them out first.
