Peter Rabbit- Tea Party

Yesterday we decided to turn our rainy, cold day upside down and bring some sunshine in with a spring tea in honor of Peter Rabbit and our Lion Prep unit on the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. This week, we are focusing on all things England as a shared setting in these stories. There are Beatrix Potter books all around and we are enjoying the naughty rabbit and some English traditions.

Fun flower silicone cups...

R10 took this one of me filling the cupcake cups...I'll tell ya...if she'd be my photographer, we might be able to start a foodie blog!

An inspiring book given to R10 for her last birthday.

This is where I got that clever idea of using a ziploc bag to fill the cups without a mess.
Our finished product- some dirt and grass for the garden and some snappy flower picks given to us by our Muffin Tin Monday swap buddy Jenny last summer. Just perfect!

But...we are aiming higher next time. Check out these rabbit holes!

Would you believe the only materials they use for decorating are specialty candies (sometimes), a ziploc bag (they show you how to cut them various ways to get cool shapes), and some other stuff.

Every good tea deserves some good books and fancy tea cups and saucers.

I wish I could say it was a dignified moment in our lives. Alas, with three boys at the table and cupcakes that did not come nicely out of the silicone cups it was rather a mess and did not lend itself to having some quiet read-aloud time. Also, everyone hated the chamomile tea! Good news moms...there's tea for the next time you visit!

As you can see in my book pile, I have been reading A Charlotte Mason Education (I've read A CM Companion, but never these) and I just had to share that I8 wanted to know at lunchtime why I ever would be reading this book...He said, "Mommy, you are the homeschool master! Why are you reading that book?"

I love that guy!

Did you see the little carrot gardens in this month's Family Fun? I think that's what I'm going to try next week!
