Some Snow Fun!

Well we know the folks "back home" have had gobs of snow this season and while we have had snow cover most of this winter, we really have been missing the really great storms. So, I've been singing, "Let it Snow!" all week in anticipation of this snow storm. I was not disappointed.

Dan taking a break from shoveling all the heavy snow... yes shoveling...snow blowing would require the maintenance of another gas powered machine. No thanks says Dan.

I had to mention this part- at first the kids were playing on the other side of the snow bank. They were having the best time. And in all the fun, snow was landing back in the driveway. Dan stopped them and said, "It's just like Laura and Mary and Pa's haystack!" I just had to blog about how Dan used a quote from the Little House series. That rocks. In case you don't remember, Pa gave the girls specific instructions not to play on the stack of hay and of course they did anyway and wrecked all that work. Great read...you really must visit the Ingalls if you haven't!

navigating snow caves...

or tunnels...

J4 after the snow tunnel collapsed on him...not too happy.
We have 2ft easily and it's about time! Love the snow! It's still snowing out there...the storm is over so maybe this is the bonus...lake effect snow (which are possibly my favorite three words of winter)!

I love this post, because I couldn't agree more. I, too, have been singing let it snow, let it snow, let it snow. It seems that everyone all around us is getting it, while we (who usually average 200 inches a season) keep missing it (only about 75 inches this season). I also agree that Lake effect is my favorite. It is sooo pretty. It has been snowing steadily over the past few days, but not sticking. My kids did get a snow fort halfway built today. It looks like your kids had a blast. There is nothing more fun to play in for the kids, then heavy, wet snow. It makes excellent snow men, forts, tunnels, and snow balls.

WOW! Now that is some serious snow. We only get 2 to 3 inches and it shuts down our whole area. LOL! It looks like such great fun!

So true Debbie! And we don't always get the wet variety. Usually it is dry, dry, dry so this is very special snow!

Tracey- this storm slowed us down, but by late morning people were out and about. Roads were clear all was well.

It should stick around for a while too which will make things nice and bright.

Realize that what you would call spring won't arrive until May and even then it won't be steady...it has been known to snow on Mother's Day here and I've celebrate R's birthday on June 1st in 40 degree weather.

Oh and Debbie 200 inches?! That is the stuff dreams are made of!

I don't meet too many people that love snow as much as I do. : )

Yea!!! The snow finally came our way and I will post our pictures later today. The kids had fun with the heavy, wet lake effect snow and its still falling. I am praying for at least 18-24 inches of it. I also wanted to let you know that I linked your blog on one of my posts today about FIAR. I am so excited that it finally came in the mail. It looks like it can be used for several years in a row since it is geared for ages 4-8. Is that right? How do you use it? It looks like just what I need. I plan on starting it this Tuesday. I am very excited and hope that the kids like it as much as I do. I also have a 9 year old who I think would benefit from Beyond FIAR and a 3 year old who would benefit from Before BIAR. One step at a time though. I don't want to overwhelm my self. I want to give this a try first and see how it goes.

I'm so happy for you and your family that you finally got snow! We don't get much snow down here in Houston, but we actually saw snow TWICE this winter!!! It was crazy.

Anyway, I enjoyed your photos. That is a LOT of snow!

We love the snow too! Loved the pictures. Your dh is so much like my dh, we have shovels too. Who wants to maintain and store a snowblower?? :-) We haven't gotten any huge storms like that in WI for a long time. Have fun!!
