Pattern Blocks

We get a lot of mileage out of our pattern blocks. Everyone from the 3yo to the 10yo can find an enjoyable activity with these. I prefer the wood blocks to the plastic ones. We have both.

Here we have a Melissa and Doug set in the box- it comes with wooden pattern cards which are great for young kids. Pattern blocks are pretty standard in size so any of these blocks work on the cards.

There are books and other cards you can purchase for pattern blocks as well. I have an animal pattern book and a book for older kids to use the pattern blocks. They can solve puzzles and work with geometric concepts. The cards below go from easy to difficult which makes them useful for a variety of ages.
Shopping Information:
I highly recommend at least one set of pattern blocks for every homeschool. They make a GREAT item for a math box!

Those pattern books may also make great drawing lesson books.
All drawing is just simple shape arrangements. The blocks could even be the templates to trace around on paper.(great for fine motor skills) New creations could be endless as well.
Can you tell, we love pattern block too!
