Winter Walk

We took a walk yesterday when the temp was up to about 60 degrees-under heard of around here. We were inspired by The Winter Unit Study by Five in a Row.

This is the next street over from our house, but a favorite spot for us to look over. In the summer time there is no water running down there so that was fun to notice. We've had snow on the ground since December 1st so these warm temps have brought on quite a snow melt.

The kids wondered what might be living in that dead tree in the picture. We guessed at hibernating insects and maybe even a raccoon.

These are sumac berries. In the fall, they were brilliantly red colored.
