More Winter Walking

This is the wetland at the end of our street. It's one of the kids' favorite spots to observe. Until this week, you couldn't even see the tall grasses. The kids were excited to see the wetland in winter time checking out what's left of the cat tails.

Snow in NY would not be complete without road salt! This stuff is everywhere and though it is great for getting around in winter weather, it is lousy for cars and pine trees and I have to imagine it's not too great for the ground in general- at least in such abundance. It's hard to take the bikes out and enjoy such unusual weather when this stuff is all over. We have to wait until spring when the street sweeper comes by and cleans this stuff up. This black snow will be an all too common sight for most of April!!
