Brown Bear Fun

Last week we started some activities with Brown Bear, Brown Bear by Bill Martin, Jr. and Eric Carle. Carisa over at 1+1+1=1 has some great printables for the book. Thanks for your hard work Carisa! We still have more work to do in our book on Brown Bear, but I thought I'd share what we've done so far.

J3 really enjoyed the counting activity and naming the animals.

He's a good number reader. Next up is number 8 and he's got it!

Cutting the cover of the book. J3's cutting skills just get better and better!

I also borrowed the book The Art of Eric Carle so we can try out his collaging technique. I don't think I'd realized he uses just tissue paper for his art. I've had the kids paint paper to collage before but not tissue paper. I'm excited to try this.

You might enjoy Eric Carle's home page. Did you know he has a museum of picture book art in Amherst, MA? This is also the 40th annivesary of The Very Hungry Caterpillar. We once met Eric Carle at an event here. I think I need to scan those photos out of my Creative Memories album and post them here. Yes! That will be fun!
